The EPA have discovered that plasterboard can pollute and damage the groundwater close to landfill sites. Once it comes into contact with organic matter, it changes its chemical composition and becomes a toxic waste. Because of these discoveries, all waste tips are instructed by law to grade out the plasterboard and process it seperately. This of course means increased costs to the tip owner and the tip user. These costs are reflected in our rates for loads containing plasterboard. All loads with plasterboard waste in them are charged at £200 / tonne.
